Hotdog sandwich is one of the famous snacks around the world, although it is not certain where it originally got its name, but as early as 13th century in Germany there is a sandwich similar to hotdog sandwich, they used frankfurter  sausages and put it in a bun and give to people during imperial coronations and soon it became well known allover the world, the proof is wherever we are it can be available in a snack counter. Wherever it originated, I am glad that I knew how to do it because it is very easy  and I do it in my own style, here is one of the recipe of hotdog sandwich that I wanna share.

Nilagang Baka

Nilagang baka ( beef stew)= for me, this is the easiest way of cooking beef. Stewing in Asia is different from other continents. Stewing specially in Philippines uses only plain water or rice washing without putting any soup thickening ingredient like tomato sauce in some other countries. Simple and easy to prepare but the savor will surely satisfy your hunger.

Ingredients:
1/2 kilo beef
1/4 kilo Chinese cabbage or pak choi
1 small size onion
a pinch of whole black pepper
8 glasses rice washing ( add water if necessary)
thumb size ginger
salt and pepper to taste

Procedure:
1. In a pot put the rice washing, ginger, onion, and black pepper then bring it to a boil.
2. Put the beef and simmer until the meat is tender.
3.  Increase the heat to high then add the Chinese cabbage, salt and pepper to taste and  simmer for 2 minute.
4. Serve it hot.

It is a rainy Saturday and not too much inside the fridge except for a fish, sausage and pork. I have eaten pork yesterday so I chose fish. How will I cook it? Because I am feeling lazy and sleepy today,  I just put it in the microwave and after 4 minutes its done! Just that, so I made a sauce to go with it and my own appetizer( will be posting it as another recipe).

Ingredients:
1 slice of salmon ( good for 1 serving)
2 tablespoons all purpose cream
1 tablespoon water
a dash of salt and pepper
a pinch of oregano flakes

Procedure:
1. Fry the fish or microwave it for 4 minutes ( Set aside)
2. Mix the all purpose cream and water, dash it with salt and pepper
3. Pour over the fish and sprinkle it with oregano flakes.
4. Serve with your favorite side dish.

It is creamy delicious! I will have it again soon. Yummy!

Sinigang sa Passion Fruit

Sinigang is one of the well known dishes in Philippines, it could be chicken, beef, pork, shrimp and fish and even vegetables. Maybe some other time, I will share my vegetable sinigang here. There are different ingredients to flavor the sinigang soup like guava, miso, tamarind, tomatoes, passion fruit, calamansi or lemon. I like tamarind more than any other sour flavoring for sinigang. But here in South America it is difficult to find tamarind so I used passion fruit. It is also delicious and the aroma is so good.

Ingredients:
1/2 kilo fish ( any fish of your choice)
1 medium size tomato
1 small size onion
3 passion fruit ( extract the juice)
1 pc eggplant
1 bunch spinach or kangkong
6 cups of water or rice washing (pinaghugasan ng bigas)
some  siling haba (chili)
salt to taste
Passion fruit
Procedure:
1.In a pot put the water, chili, tomato, onion , salt and pepper, then bring to a boil.
2. Once boiling add the fish and simmer until half cooked then add the eggplant, simmer for few minutes.
3. Add the kangkong or spinach then simmer until cooked, add the passion fruit extract, then simmer for a minute and turn off the heat.
4. Serve it hot and enjoy.

Pork Adobo

According to the history, Adobo is not the original name for this dish. The original name was changed when the Spaniards conquered Philippines in the late 16th century and early 17th century, when they encountered an indigenous cooking process of stewing meat with vinegar, since then, they called this dish as Adobo, which is a Spanish term for marinating meat with vinegar. As time goes by the original name for this was totally lost. There are different style also in cooking adobo, but the most common one is this one.

Ingredients:
1 kilo pork
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup vinegar
6 cloves garlic
1 teaspoon peppercorn ( pamintang buo)

Procedure:
1. Mix all the ingredients
2. Put in a pot over medium heat.
3. When its already boiling , stir it every now and then, and wait until the meat is tender.
4. Serve it with rice.

Pancit- Filipino noodles

Pancit is always a part in every Filipino celebration, specially during birthdays. I always like pancit  with lots of carrots and cabbage. In some countries that I've visited original Filipino pancit is not available, and sometimes the craving for a pancit dish is hard to control. That is the time when you start to look for an option. In this recipe I used instant noodles and here is how to do it.

Ingredients:
2 packs instant noodles ( cooked without the flavoring ) Strained and set aside.
1/4 kilo chicken
1 piece small carrot
1/4 kilo cabbage
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 small bell pepper
1 cup water
salt and  pepper to taste

Procedure:
1. Saute the garlic and the onion, then add the meat, braised for a minute.
2. Add soy sauce, salt, pepper and water, then bring to a boil, once boiling add add the carrot, bell pepper and cabbage then simmer until tender.
3. Add the drained noodles, mix it well then turn off the heat.
4. Serve hot

You can sprinkle it with green or spring onion. Enjoy your food:)
