Simple Pancake

According to the article that I've read about pancakes"archaeological evidence suggests that varieties of pancakes are probably the earliest and most widespread types of cereal food eaten in prehistoric societies whereby dry carbohydrate-rich seed flours mixed with the available protein-rich liquids, usually milk and eggs, were baked on hot stones or in shallow earthenware pots over an open fire to form a nutritious and highly palatable foodstuff"
A well known breakfast in most countries all over the world , pancake is very easy to make, although there are different varieties of making it, with milk, without milk, with different fillings, etc. But the one that I am going to share is a simple and easy one. It is really delicious.

Ingredients:
1cup flour
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg ( beaten)
2 tablespoons butter or margarine ( melted)

Procedure:
1. In a big bowl sift (salain) together the flour, sugar, salt and baking powder
2. Then make a well or space at the center and put the beaten egg, milk and melted butter.
3. Mix it thoroughly until  smooth or firm.
4. Heat a butter or a little oil and spoon a portion of the pancake mixture and cook until both sides are brown.
5. Serve hot with pancake syrup or your favorite fruits.

I love you

The message in the picture was made with gummy candies. I was surprised when I recieved this from a friend (if that friend is a woman or a man, I wont tell hahahhahahahaha). But I appreciate the message and it is very lovely, since it is food, I want to share it to all of you.
Bottom line is .... we can be creative with the foods we eat.

Special Monggo

Mung bean or mongo is  one of the well known legumes in Asia. It originated in India but it is always available in different countries in Asia. According to the article that I've read it is commonly used in Chinese cuisine, as well as in the cuisines of Burma, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, and other parts of Southeast Asia.
Personally, I like the taste of monggo and in fact it is one of my favorites, and  I like all its by products like bean sprouts ( togue) cellophane noodles (sotanghon) mung jelly, hopia etc.
There are many ways to cook monggo and you can cook it like this.

Ingredients:
1 cup monggo
1/4 kilo squash
1 cup slices of eggplant
1 cup shredded fried fish
1 cup watercress or spinach (you can replace this with any green leafy vegetables)
2 cloves garlic
1 cup pork scratchings (chicharon)
salt

Procedure:

1. In a pot boil the monggo until it is soft, then set aside (You can use pressure cooker for faster cooking)
2. In a pan saute the garlic, then add the fried fish and salt simmer for few minutes
3. Add the squash to saute for a while, then add the cooked monggo, simmer for  few minutes
4. Add the eggplant and simmer until it is soft.
5. Add the watercress or any leafy vegetable and simmer for few seconds or until done.
6. Turn off the heat and put the pork scratchings (chicharon)
7. Serve it hot. :-) Enjoy your food : )

How To Poach an Egg

Poached egg is an egg that has been cooked in a simmering water until the egg white solidified. I preferred this than sunny side up egg because this is not oily and for me this is better. Try this.

1 teaspoon vinegar

Procedure:
1. In a pan put water that is enough to cover the egg when you put it.
2. Bring to boil and put the vinegar and salt ,when it's boiling stir it in a circle motion then crack the egg.

3. Wait until the egg is done, remove  and serve it hot.
