Ginisang Gulay


An easy to cook vegetable dish that is budget friendly. Yummy.

Ingredients for 5-6 servings:
1/2 kilo pork
1/2 kilo squash
2 eggplants
8 pieces okra
1/4 kilo string beans or green beans
salt and pepper to taste
1 onion
3 cloves garlic
2 cups water

Procedure:
1. Saute the garlic and onion then add the pork and braise it, then simmer for few minutes.
2. Add the  water and bring to boil.
3. Add the squash and simmer for 2 minutes, then add the eggplant, beans and okra, mix well and simmer until tender.
4. Add salt and pepper to taste, simmer until cooked.
5. Serve hot.

Tinolang Tuna



A delicious fish soup to satisfy your taste buds.

Ingredients for 3 servings:
1/4 kilo Tuna
1/4 kilo Bok choy or pechay
2 tomatoes
1/2 onion
Cayenne Pepper or siling haba
thumb size ginger
3 cups water
salt to taste

Procedure:
1. In a pot put the water, salt, ginger, onion, tomatoes and pepper then bring to a boil and allow to simmer for 4 minutes.
2. Add the Tuna and simmer for 3 minutes then add the pechay and simmer until done.
3. Serve it hot.

Sarciadong Galunggong


A very simple fish dish that can be prepared in just few steps. So if you are just learning how to cook, try this recipe, I am sure that you will succeed :-).

Ingredients for 4-5 servings:
1/2 kilo Galunggong ( Cleaned and Fried)
2 med. size tomatoes (sliced)
1 med. size onion (sliced)
3 cloves garlic ( minced)
salt and pepper to taste
2 eggs( beaten)
2 cups water
Spring onion
Fried galunggongong

Procedure:
1. Saute the garlic, onion and tomatoes until soften.
2. Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil.
3. Add the fried fish, salt and pepper to taste, then simmer for few minutes.
4. Add the beaten eggs, stirring constantly so that it will be distributed evenly, then add the spring onion and simmer until done.
5. Serve it hot.

Ginataang Santol


Ginataang Santol is a special dish in Bicol, Philippines. It's my first time to cooked  this dish and I was surprised, because it's so yummy. Thumbs up for this recipe.

Ingredients:
2 cups chopped santol pulp
2 cups thin coconut milk
1 cup pure coconut milk
1 canned tuna flakes
1 tablespoons minced ginger
salt to taste
chili flakes (optional)


Procedure:

1. In a pot put the 2 cups coconut milk, tuna flakes including the brine, ginger, chopped santol then bring to a boil, once boiling reduce the heat and let simmer until the santol flesh is tender and the coconut milk almost gone dry.
2. Add the pure coconut milk and salt to taste then simmer until done.
3. Sprinkle with chili flakes then serve.

Buttered Crab

A quick and easy to prepare crab dish. The buttery taste and the flavor of the Sprite made this dish so tempting plus the aroma of the garlic that will surely boosts your appetite.

Ingredients:
4 crabs
1/2 cup Sprite
2 tablespoons butter
3 cloves garlic
Salt and pepper to taste

Procedure:
1. Heat the butter then saute the garlic.
2. Add the crab and Sprite then simmer.
3. Add the salt and pepper then continue simmering until done.
4. Serve hot with rice.

Caramelized Sausage


I love sweet sausage, so every time I bought sausage from the market I cooked it like this and for us it is yummy.

Ingredients:
1 kilo sausage ( longganisa)
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 cup water
1/4 cup oil

Procedure:
1. In a pan put the sausage, sugar and water then simmer until the water evaporates.
2. Once the water dried out, put the oil then stir until the sausage are cooked and coat with caramelized sugar.
3. Serve hot, this is also a good appetizer during parties by slicing it and serve with a toothpick like in the picture below.

Green Beans with Sausage


I have a leftover sausage from yesterdays breakfast, that's why I cooked this so that I can used my leftover sausage before it will be rancid. Since the green beans are on sale at the supermarket nearby, I decided to used it. Here is the simple recipe that I cooked today.

Ingredients:
1/2 kilo green beans/Baguio beans ( cleaned and cut)
2 leftover sausage -longganisa-( sliced)
4 cloves garlic
2 tablespoons olive oil or any cooking oil

Procedure:
1. Saute the garlic then add the sausage.
2. Increase the heat then add the green beans, sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste then  stir fry until done.
3.  Serve it hot.

 Don't waste food!! It's part of God's blessings. Learn to recycle the leftover.
