Cheese Sticks


I love to make this for my nephews and nieces, and they loved it so much, making me inspired to make for them during weekends when I am with them, one of the memories that made me smile :-).

Ingredients:
1 pack cheddar cheese ( 250 grams)
30 lumpia wrappers ( spring roll wrappers)
oil for frying

Procedure:
1. Slice the cheese into batonettes as shown in the picture below.
 2. Wrap each slice of cheese in a spring roll wrapper, and sealed well.

3. Fry until golden brown then serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.



Law-uy


Law-uy is popular in the Mindanao region of Philippines, all of my neighbors have their own garden of vegetables for law-uy, this is a very simple way of cooking the vegetables. This dish is a counterpart of laswa from the Ilonggos and dinengdeng from the Ilokanos, maybe there are some other vegetable dishes which resembles to this, you can share some info by leaving a comment, thank you.

Ingredients:
1 onion
6 pieces okra
2 eggplant
1 bunch alugbati
1/2 kilo squash
some fried fish
3 cups water
salt to taste

Procedure:
1. In a pot put the water, onion,  fried fish and squash then allow to boil until the squash is half cooked.
2. Add the eggplant and okra, simmer until half cooked, then increase the heat so that when we put the leaves it will not be grayish.
3. Add the alugbati and salt, simmer until cooked.
4. Serve it hot.

Crispy Pork Intestine


 Something exotic but yummy, good to eat with porridge. I love the texture of fried silet or crispied pork intestines. Have you tried this before? If not yet, then I am challenging you to try it, you might like it. :-).

Ingredients
1/2 kilo pork intestines cut into an inch long
2 tablespoons lemon or calamansi juice
Salt to taste
 oil for deep frying

Procedure:
1. Boil the intestines until cooked then drain and set aside until all the water is fully drained.
2. Sprinkle some salt and lemon juice and mix well.
3. Heat the oil and deep fry the intestines until golden brown.
4. Serve it hot.

Ginataang Kalabasa at Malunggay

Recently I am always considering the health value of my food and this simple vegetable dish is very nutritious so do not turn this down, malunggay or horse radish has vitamin c, vitamin a and high in calcium that is good for lactating mothers to produce more milk for their babies. On the other hand squash is a good source of vitamins B1, C, B6, niacin, etc. I love this dish, it's delicious too.

Ingredients:
1/2 kilo squash
1 cup malunggay ( horse radish)
2 cups coconut milk
fried fish
1 cup water
salt to taste

Procedure:
1. In a pot put the squash, fried fish, water and 1 cup of coconut  milk and salt, bring to a boil.

2. Once boiling, stir and simmer until the squash is cooked.
3. Increase the heat and add the malunggay and the other cup of coconut milk, simmer for few seconds then turn off the heat.

4. Serve it hot and do not forget to smile :-)

Sweet Peanuts


Since I was a kid sweetened peanuts was already my favorite thing to munch. When my mom buy something at the store I always tell her to buy sweetened peanuts for me. I was 22 years old when I learned how to cook this from a friend who taught me. Since then, I love to make this, specially if we have family gatherings.

Ingredients:
4 cups peanuts ( around 1 kilo)
2 cup sugar
4 cups water

Procedure:
1.Put all the ingredients in a wide pan then bring to a boil.
2. Continue boiling until the sugar caramelizes.

3. Stir well and see to it that it will not be burnt.
4. Continue stirring until the sugar is melted and the peanuts were coated, transfer in a tray and allow to cool and keep in a jar.



My favorite thing to do in the morning

This is my favorite thing to do in the morning dip the bread in a coffee ( sawsaw tinapay sa kape) does it sound weird? For Filipinos it is not.

Taho


One of the best snack that I always want to have, yummy!
Ingredients
1/2 kilo soft tofu
1 cup cooked sago
1 1/2 cup sugar
3 1/2 cups water
Soft Tofu

 Procedure
1. In a pan put the water and sugar and bring to boil until it will became brine ( arnibal).

2.Spoon the soft tofu and put in a serving glass or bowl, put with sago and arnibal then serve.
