How to make Sampaloc Candy

My favorite candy when I was a kid, my friends and I loved this during our school recess, together with some snack items. Today, when I saw the tamarind at the market, I remembered those old days and made some for myself. Yummy!
Ingredients:
1 cup ripe tamarind/sampaloc
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
pinch of salt
Sampaloc
Procedure:
1. Prepare the tamarind by removing the pulp from its pods then put in a cooking pan together with all the ingredients.

2.Bring to a boil, once it is boiling lower the heat and simmer it until the texture is sticky and smooth.

3. When it is already chewy in texture remove from heat and allow to cool before forming it into balls.

4. Form into balls and roll over the sugar. Keep in an air tight container, and serve it anytime you want it.

How to Cook Quinoa

Cooked Red Quinoa

Cooked White Quinoa

I admire the nutrients from Quinoa, that is why I'm in love with this food. A good replacement for rice, and you can cook it the way you cook the rice. I will be posting more recipes for this soon. Yummy!

It is easy how to cook quinoa, unlike the rice, we do not need to wash quinoa.
I always use this measurement in cooking:
Raw Quinoa
1 cup quinoa
1 1/2 cup water
Put the quinoa and water in a cooking pot  then bring to a boil, once boiling just lower the heat and allow to simmer until the water is gone, then continue to cook over low heat until done. You can serve it as it is, or you can have it with mixed vegetables. Enjoy a healthy meal.

How To Make Ham and Cheese Bread Rolls

Ten years ago, I often cooked this to earn money because I want to buy something and my allowance every week is not enough, so I decided to sell this so that I can buy a new cellphone model as soon as possible . Every weekend I have lots of orders from friends and they loved it so much, they said, it is very yummy and they liked it  a lot. When I saw the leftover bread today I decided to make some for my blog. Simple and easy to prepare, I hope that you will like this recipe.

Ingredients:
12 slices of bread ( loaf bread)
12 slices of sweet ham
12 slices of cheese ( we can use cheddar cheese, quickmelt cheese or mozarella)
2 beaten eggs
1 cup bread crumbs ( Panko is the best)
oil for frying

Procedure:
1. Flatten the bread with a rolling pin or if rolling pin is not available just use anything  like cylindrical bottle but be careful.

2. When the bread has been flatten put the ham and cheese.

3. Roll and seal it by rubbing the tip of the bread with the beaten egg to sealed it tightly, then dip in the beaten eggs and roll over the bread crumbs.

4. Deep fry until golden brown then slice and serve.

How to Make Reduced Baking Soda

I made this reduced baking soda for my kutsinta recipe, because kutsinta needs a lye water which is very difficult to find in my place so I looked for a solution by searching in the internet and reading different sources like forums and websites. This is how to make a reduced baking soda, a substitute for lye water.

I pre-heated the oven for 5 minutes then baked 1/2 cup of baking soda at 150 degrees celcius for 80 minutes,  I let it cool and put in an air tight container, now I am ready to make kutsinta. How about you?

Any recipe that calls for lye water, this is a substitute for it.
